Un mes de curro. Working discipline.

February 2, 2009 - 3 Responses

At work...

My first month working and my second month living here in New York had finished. It has been great, but now I am eager to start to learn more things about the city, to became, hopefully, a local.

Do I have a plan? Nope. Do I know where to start? Niet. But I feel that as soon as I’ll get my first salary, I could start to explore my limits, and hence, the limits of the things the city has to offer me. I know, I know, it is a LOT.

So I recommend, that if you are in the modern thing, definetily you should try “FuerzaBruta”. It is a great show, It gets you involved, it is that kind of show in which you have to move, to walk, to get wet, to touch things, to interact with the artist, to dance and to shout. Is definitely energizing. And do not worry, you can not spoil anyone, it has no trace of plot in the whole hour and so of spectacle. ( I am sure someone can argue with me in that, but believe me, even if  it is created by Argentinians, it has no plot)

Han sido los Warriors. Warriors come out to play-ayyyyyy.

Momento freak.

Even if it is a terrible movie, I love it. It is funny how sometimes you can like something even if you know it is plain bad. As the last donut in the box, as the extra slice of pizza that you eat even if you are full, that horrible reality show, the 80′s song that when it is played you can not help but start dancing, (and you know that you are losing points in front of your new friends). That is how i feel about The Warriors, it is a “B” action movie, but I can only recommend everybody to watch it. Give it a try. Even more if you live in NYC, it is so full of city’s flavor. It is perfect for a Sunday evening, with friends and beers. Can you dig it?

Settle in.

So, finally I started to feel at home in this “god dammed” city. I just need to find some dance classes, pay the gym, and figure out how to keep with the capoeira training. After that, I am ready to enjoy the city at its fullest!

Amigos. Friends.

He estado 15 dias con 2 buenos amigos. He pasado muy buenos ratos con estos dos personajes, tanto que realmente solo he podido hacer 3 fotos de estos dias. Aqui van 2 de ellas. Gracias, majos.

En Times Square

This time with my friends has been great. I was tremendously happy to hang out with them for 15 days. Celebrating the New Year’s Eve with closer ones is wonderful, even more if you are a far from your family and friends. I have been with these guys walking all over New York, going to some really cool places, and apart from getting lost some times (Thank you T-mobile)it has been great overall. The only thing I regret is to not have been possible for me to offer them a place to stay. Next time, I promise!

navidades

I have never been a great fan of Christmas. But lately I have started to enjoy the will of the people wanting to have a good time, to celebrate, to be with their loved ones. That is a good thing. I do not even remember my old arguments about the excessive consumerism. It seems they have faded slowly. Anyway, Merry Christmas to all.

Shock cultural

I am still shocked. I never heard of something like that. I think that is at the same time funny, hilarious and sad. I am amazed by the fact that people actually wants to appear in TV  to show all their dirt, or faults in their lives for incredible low amounts of money. They are suing each other for 200$!. Even the judges play a part in that charade criticizing and setting moral rules that are clearly inappropriate to make. No doubt is a good show, but I do not think that is a good example. Even though, is funny to watch.

Third week. Y van tres.

December 22, 2008 - 4 Responses

As I told you a few days ago, I have no computer. So I have to borrow my roommate’s laptop. Thank you Ryan. My third week in NY is over, and man, I am happy. I feel like I am starting to get a grip on the city. I experienced my first snow storm, beautiful, but so cold.  Also I should start to work the Wednesday and two good friends came on Sunday to pass New year’s Eve together .  Good news!
